Just this side of
heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies
that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows
and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of
food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who
had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or
maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams
of days and times gone by.
The animals are
happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very
special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and
play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the
distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins
to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster
and faster.
You have been
spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together
in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your
face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from
your heart.
Then you cross
Rainbow Bridge together....

“Sam”
Merrimac’s
Quantum Leaper, NA, OAJ, CGC
June 27,
1992 – August 21, 2006
He came into my life, this sweet, gray guy, all silver and white and
black,
With a tender heart and big, brown eyes; for charm he never did lack.
He was there when Miss Libbee became a star & stood strong when we bid
her goodbye.
He put up with Chrissy (who thought he was “silly”), letting her take the
lead, don’t know why.
He then welcomed Kaitlyn and the two hit it off, he was happy that she
liked performing,
‘Cause that meant that he, laid-back as can be, could relax and just
think about roaming,
Then came Miss Morgan, it was almost too much – Sam tried real hard to
ignore her.
Yet, sweet as can be, he acquiesced so that she felt at home, despite his
occasional “grrrrrrr”.
He didn’t much care for Agility trials; they just required way too much
“crunch”
And Obedience trials, “Oh, please, not again. Let me check what they’re
having for lunch.”
Now herding the sheep, hey, that wasn’t bad, kinda fun just watching him
move them,
And going to schools, entertaining the kids, he excelled, why you’d think
he was human.
And on stage in “Annie”, gee, what a ham; a pooch actor he could have
become,
Backstage he got hugs from all of the kids
and he proved he could be number one.
But mostly he chilled, taking all things in stride, even facing the
dreaded big “C”.
And right to the end, my brave, sweet, gray friend, was always right
there beside me.
He’ll truly be missed, his quiet brown eyes, looking deep down in to my
soul.
And turning the light on each morning at six, who’s going to take over
that role?
So I say “good-bye” sadly, didn’t want you to go, miss seeing you
guarding the fridge,
Give my love to Chrissy, to Libbee & Chelsee when you get to the Rainbow
Bridge.

Fiego Nickelodeon (Nicki)
UD RN AX OAJ CGC
April 12, 1992
– April 1, 2006
“The Good One”
Though small
in size she was big in heart,
My sweet
Nickelodeon was a dog set apart.
Smart as a
whip, but so loving, too,
Whatever I
wanted is what she tried to do
In the
beginning, some things were tough,
Like the
Christmas Parade she said “hey, that’s enough!”
Like a shot
she took off, but she didn’t go far;
She just
waited for me in the first “open” car.
Obedience was
fun and she tried not to fail,
Even when I
turned and stepped on her tail!
In the sport
of agility, her talent was large;
She could find
any obstacle from way ‘cross the yard.
In our
household Nick fit in as sweet as you please,
Even saying
“God Bless You” whenever I sneezed.
She also made
sure, when we drove in the rain,
That I knew
when the wipers were cleaning the panes.
And getting
the paper, even Sunday’s big mass,
It was her job and she did it, right to the last.
My sweet April girl, though today we must part,
You’re always alive right here in my heart.

Heelalong Red Flash (Flash)
AX, AXJ, CDX, AAD,
NAP, NJP, STDs, JHD, TDI
June 24, 1990
– October 26, 2004
Never was a dog more aptly named than a Border Collie
called Flash,
In simple terms she knew he’d be fast and in the
beginning that’s all that she’d asked.
But it didn’t take long for her to learn that speed
was just one of his gifts.
So special was he, all the things he would be would
require a very long list.
A “Flash” of light - As he covered the course, agility
he really could do.
You had to think fast when you ran with Flash, or he’d
finish the course without you.
A “Flash” of instinct - He already knew what to do
with the geese and the sheep.
Herding to him was a delightful whim; turn him loose
and your herd he could keep.
A “Flash” of intellect - Was he smart? Why he could’ve
earned a college degree.
Reading and counting? Easy as pie! Obedience? Just
watch him and see.
A “Flash” of humor - big fellow knew how to bring out
the smiles and the laughter;
A showman he was, ham it up, play the crowd, make ‘em
laugh, that’s what he was after.
Upon the stage or a TV set, his charm and his talent
shone through,
From “That’s My Dog” to Annie’s pooch, he was there
never missing his cue.
A “Flash” of intuition - as a therapy dog, helped him
know just what he must do
Ever gentle, he warmed the heavy hearts of sick
children and grown people, too.
A “Flash” of brilliance- he could do it all, just ask
him and he would try.
And with every success, as he did his best, you’d sit
back and just wonder why…
How such a heart, beating strong and so true, came to
be in this most gentle soul,
Wisdom and strength, devotion and love, a tender
spirit with a heart of gold.
His legacy will shine year after year, this sweet,
gentle red and white dog
With golden brown eyes so full of love, he now sits at
the feet of God.
“Well done, big guy”, the good Lord says, “you’ve
finished your earthly task,
And now I have one more job for you, if you will
permit me to ask.
The human you left down there on Earth, well, I think
she needs you still.
So watch and guard her, my angel dog – one last task
for you to fulfill.
In the still and the quiet of the night, rest your
head upon her knee…
And
she will know you are with her still, from now through eternity.

To Chrissy
Lioness Lady Chrissy Lee
OA, OAJ, PDI,
PDJII, NGC-V, GV-N
(January
16, 1991 - July 15, 2001)
When first we met, there was no doubt – it was love at
very first sight!
Though you
were scared and terribly shy, I knew it would be all right.
We worked
together, you and I, and soon became a team.
You offered me
your heart and love and so began our dream.
We traveled
all around the south… you learned so many things.
We ran
together, trained some, too, and entered lots of rings.
Sometimes we
won, sometimes we lost, but always we had fun.
At home you
were my constant pal, the center of my sun.
Now, all too
soon, our dream is thru, my golden girl, you’ve gone.
But memories
of our special time will linger on and on.
Your
frightened heart, that learned to love, to trust & care so strong,
Will be what I
remember most, for as long as I’m around.
Sweet Chrissy,
I will always love you in a very special way.
Wait for me at
the bridge….
Your partner,
Connie

Sadler’s L’il Miss Libertee CD
aka
Miss Libbee Lee
(July 3, 1982
– September 19, 1996)
I lost a
special friend today;
It’s hard to
say “Goodbye”
For 14 years
Miss Libbee was
The apple of
my eye.
She’s gone to
be with Chelsee now,
At Rainbow
Bridge they’ll play,
Until I go to
join them
On that final,
happy day.
I have no
doubt that Heaven
Will admit our
Furry guys,
For how could
it he “heavenly”
Without them
at our sides?
And although
we are parted now,
In time we’ll
meet again.
Until we do,
how I’ll miss you,
My sweet and
faithful friend.
